Synopsis: Maxthon is a tabbed browser based on the Internet Explorer rendering engine. It supports mouse gestures, ad-blocking, skinning and a built-in RSS reader sidebar. It also has privacy protection features. For example, you can erase browsing history, cookies, cache etc. with a single click, or configure the browser to clear them automatically when it closes.

Writes settings to: Application folder. It writes a few values to the Windows registry, but they do not appear to have any impact on the application’s portability.

Dependencies: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and above

How to extract: Download the installer and install to the default folder C:\Program Files\Maxthon. Then copy all files (except MaxthonUINST.exe) to a folder of your choice. Finally, uninstall the program. Launch the program by double-clicking Maxthon.exe.

I did not select “AI RoboForm Plugin” and the various sidebars during testing, so I am not sure if those external components/plugins are portable.

Unicode support: Yes. Be sure to select “Install Unicode Version” during installation.
