Synopsis: BitComet is BitTorrent client that supports simultaneous downloads, download queue, selected downloads in torrent package, fast-resume, chatting, disk cache, speed limits, port mapping, proxy, IP filter, etc. It has full Unicode support, and requires less CPU and memory than Java or .Net -based clients.
Writes settings to: Application folder. It writes a few window-related settings to the registry, but I think that does not affect its portability.
Dependencies: MSXML3 or above (installed by default with IE6 or WinXP, or available from Microsoft as a separate download)
How to extract: Download the “green” ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch the program by double-clicking on BitComet.exe.
Stealth: No
Path portability: Requires manual entry of relative path (eg. ..\..\personal\work.doc)
Unicode support: Yes
License: Free for personal use
System Requirements: Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista
